Peter Haschke's ground plots under hail netting in south Cheyenne
Our story

“I’m absolutely sold on this netting.”

Peter Haschke grows in eight 5-by-40-foot ground plots, a 250-square-foot hoop house and a 200-square-foot greenhouse on his 0.6-acre lot. During the season the plots are covered with hail netting — when two bad hailstorms hit south Cheyenne, the covered plots came through untouched.

The greenhouse he built is sunken two feet into the ground, with south-facing panels angled for mid-winter sun and water barrels that hold the day's heat. “The greenhouse takes very little supplemental heat,” he says.
